What is the mock exam?
The mock exam is a practice test – free of charge to students and families. Every spring starting in Grade 2 the Bilingual Program administers a Cambridge Final Exam as an external benchmarking tool. We use official test materials and run the exams under strict testing conditions. For Grade 8, the relevant exam is the Cambridge First for Schools (FCE) at level B2. The Council will deliver final results two to three weeks after the mock exam.

If my child has taken a Cambridge B2 exam in the last few months, does he/she still need to take the mock exam?
Yes. All 8th grade students are required to take the Mock Exam, which is the final milestone in the English language development of students in the Bilingual Program. The results of the mock exams provide us with critical data to measure the success of the Program in the primary schools. Moreover, our teachers are still working hard to raise the level of each student’s English, and the information from this mock exam will help them hone their work and do their best for the kids through the very end of 8th grade. Moreover, if you have NOT taken a Cambridge B2 exam in the last few months, the results of this mock exam can help students and their families decide whether to sign up for our next official exam with the British Council. Furthermore, these results are used as exit exam data, similar to the Math and Hungarian exams, which we report to the Educational Authorities (Klebelsberg Központ).
What is the schedule for March 24th?

What else should I know about the speaking exam?
There are three important things to keep in mind regarding the speaking component:
- Students take the speaking component in pairs (or in case of an odd number, in one group of three). Pairs are formed prior to exam day by the Bilingual Program main class teacher.
- The speaking exam sessions may run later than scheduled, or may finish earlier.
- There will not be any further classes or tutorials after the exam on March 24th.
What else should I know about the schedule for March 24th?
In order to have enough time to prepare for the start of the exam, students are expected to arrive at the school no later than 8:15 on the day of the exam. The exam begins at 8:25 sharp. Students should wear comfortable clothes and bring three pens. Please make sure to have water on hand, as it is not permissible to leave the room during the test.
After the mock exam results arrive, what’s the next step?
If, based on your child’s mock exam score, you decide to sit for the official First for Schools (FCE) B2 Exam:
- You will contact the British Council directly to register for our exclusive Cambridge B2 exam session, reserved for Bilingual Program students only.
- This exclusive Cambridge B2 exam session will be: June 9, 2026
- Speaking Exam: Tuesday, June 9, 2026 (in the afternoon)
- Written Exam: Tuesday, June 9, 2026 (digital)
- Registration Deadline: Tuesday, May 5, 2026, midnight

Is the Cambridge B2 First for Schools Exam valid in Hungary?
All Cambridge exams (whether “For Schools” or for adults) at levels B1, B2 and C1 are accepted in Hungary as equivalent to the State-recognized, accredited language examinations systems in Hungary, as per this government decree on language examinations – 137/2008. (V.16.) Korm. rendelet, particularly Paragraph 14, Section 10 and Appendix 3.
