Samuel grew up in the US in the state of Vermont. He received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Vermont and completed his TEFL certification with the Council on International Educational Exchange. He also participated in the Central European Studies program with Masaryk University in Czechia and the Summer Language Schools program with Middlebury College in Vermont.
Before moving to Hungary, he taught primary-level students in Nepal as a United States Peace Corps volunteer, working with local teachers to improve student classroom participation and completing an extensive library renovation at his school. Outside of teaching, he has experience working in agriculture, construction, and language-translation, which continues to help inform his methods as a teacher.
He believes that mastering English can open up entire new worlds of knowledge and discovery to students.
In his free time, Sam enjoys history, music, and the outdoors. You might find him cross-country skiing, playing his trombone, or just reading a book.
