Katie is in her second year with Bilingual and is currently teaching Grade 2.

When it comes to teaching abroad in Europe, there are so many amazing places to choose from. If you have made it this far in your web search, then Budapest, Hungary has peaked your attention, as it should! I was introduced to Bilingual and excited knowing that I may have the opportunity to be a part of a program that immerses children into the English language.

In August 2018, I flew to Budapest and I have not yet regretted that decision. Is it scary leaving behind all that is loved and familiar? Absolutely! I had never traveled overseas alone and was a bit hesitant how I would find my way at first. A key factor in my decision to choose Bilingual was the ample amount of support they offered at first arrival. They were there every step of the way beginning with your pick-up from the airport and on to taking you to your new home. They were there holding your hand through immigration, bank accounts, and even setting up your internet. There is always someone just an email or phone call away to help you transition smoothly.

Bilingual has many schools where you could be placed. I have spent the year at Krúdy. It has been an amazing opportunity to work with my co-teachers and students. The teachers are welcoming and open to your ideas. The students are eager to learn and greet you with smiles and a hello every morning. Next year I will be returning and I am looking forward to looping up with my class.

Ask yourself what you want from your teaching career. Would you like to become part of a class community? Are you interested in planning activities that require kids to get up, move around, and talk? Are you looking for mentors and people to support you in a transition into a new country and culture? If you answered yes, then Bilingual is the place for you!!
