Dutch Teacher Trainees’ Visit

The Department of Primary  Education at Viaa University in Zwolle, Netherlands, contacted the Bilingual Program, to arrange a visit for their teacher trainees. The professors who think that bilingual schools provide a more complex education, wanted to expand the students’ knowledge and experience in the culture of a different country..

We were happy to demonstrate how bilingual education works within the Bilingual Program and also, to take part in how teacher training works in a different country.

The Dutch department trains students to teach children aged 4 to 12. There were 4 students who were interested in kindergarten education and 14 students who were interested in primary education. These 18 students and their 2 professors visited the Bilingual Program on Friday, February 3rd and Monday, February 6th 2023.

They visited both Summer and Daisy Kindergarten, as well as 2 primary schools: Budakeszi Széchenyi István and Megyeri Úti Primary School.

During their visit the students observed lessons at both the schools and kindergartens and attended a presentation about the Bilingual Program. On their second day they even actively participated in lessons with a short cultural presentation and activity related to that of the Netherlands. Our students greatly enjoyed this experience. These lessons were then followed by feedback sessions.

We appreciate how our teachers and Teacher Trainers gave a wonderful demonstration of how we and our program work. We are also grateful that our students were able to take part in a different cultural experience.

ÚjpestMédia visited Summer Kindergarten during the visit and the following report was shot about the kindergarten and the Bilingual Program operating there.
